ISLAMABAD: Railways has decided to start tourist train from Rawalpindi to Khewra and other recreational points on the instructions of Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique.

Later on, the Railways will extend its tourist train operations to other recreational spots of the country.

Earlier, Railways had started running the train in October 2010 to attract people to visit the tourist locations, but due to some reasons, the train project could not be continued.

The present government took various steps for the betterment of national institutions including restoration and development of Pakistan Railways on emergent basis.

Taking keen interest, Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique restored trains at different stations.

Other steps included repair of locomotives, improvement of tracks and decrease in train fares which resulted in improved services for the public and strengthening of financial position of Railways.
