Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Four ships carrying containers, furnace oil and edible oil were berthed at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal on Tuesday, Port sources said here on Wednesday.

Two more ships carrying containers, wheat also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was 75% at the port on Wednesday where total eight ships namely Najran, Sealand New York, Conti Lapislazuli, ILC Friend Ship, Thor Harmony, MT Karachi, Bunga Almanda and Chem Road Lily are currently occupying berths to load/ offload containers, cement, wheat, urea, furnace oil and edible oil respectively.

A cargo volume of 94674 tonnes comprising 88263 tonnes imports and 12411 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1723 containers (TEUs) was handled at the port during the last 24 hours.
