The authorities of the provincial local government and Pakistan railways will mutually settle the matters to this effect.
This he said while talking to federal minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique who made a call on meeting with him here on Thursday.
The Chief Minister discussed with him various matters relating to the rehabilitation of railway tracks, new developmental programme of Pakistan Railways to be initiated in the province including the augmentation of railway track from Peshawar to Rawalpindi, laying of new railway track from Hawalian to Mansehra, Balakot, Muzaffarabad and Islamabad, launching of tourist train on the track from Rawalpindi to Attock, using the track from Peshawar to Hayatabad for mass transit, reopening of the Azakhel Dry Port, fencing the railway tracks in major cities of the province.
The federal minister assured the chief minister of all out cooperation in the proposed mass transit programme in Peshawar. Besides the provision of infrastructure, he also offered technical support to the provincial government in this regard.
On this occasion matters related to unguarded and insecure crossing points on railway tracks, the issues of railway properties and grain godowns between Railways and provincial food department also came under discussion.
The Chief Minister assured the federal minister of full cooperation from the provincial government to resolve all the matters of railway related to the province.
He directed the concerned authorities of the provincial Food, Revenue and communication and Works department to sit together with the railway authorities and settle all the matters.
Saad Rafique thanked the chief minister for his assurance of cooperation and said that Pakistan Railways not only seeks the guidance of the provincial government but wants to work with it as a stakeholder in the proposed development projects of the railway in the province.
The Federal Minister expressed solidarity with the provincial government on the tragic incident of All Saint Church Peshawar and appreciated the provincial government for dealing with the aftermaths of the carnage successfully.
Saad Rafique praised the reform agenda of the provincial government and expressed good wishes for its success. Besides high ups of Railway, provincial secretary local government department, Secretary Food and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, were present on the occasion.
