Intense buying at stock market

KARACHI: The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) on Tuesday showed intense buying and its bench mark 100-index crossed four upper caps, closing 355.50 points up.

The KSE-100 index closed at 22721.22 points while 30-index increased by 357.26 to close at 17663.93 points.

Significant trading was witnessed in Cement, Power, TeleCom, Banking and Petroleum sectors.

Out of total 368 active scrips, 212 moved up while 133 shed values and 23 remained unchanged.

Unilever Foods closed higher by Rs 139 to close at Rs 4889 while Wyeth Pak closed higher by Rs 67.69 to close at Rs 1878.

The stocks of Bata Pak and Colgate Palmolive lost their per share value by Rs 83 to close at Rs 1701 and Rs 37.49 to close at Rs 1882.50 respectively.

Most active trading of 21670500 shares was recorded in Lafarge Pak.

Total market turnover remained at 351214490 shares as compared to previous 325649940 shares.
