Kalam Summer Festival begins in Swat

SWAT: A colourful Kalam Summer Festival began here Thursday at scenic valleys of Kalam where tourists from across the country arrived to watch the thrilling sports events, musical shows and others celebrations along with their families.

The Khyber Pakthunkhwa Governor, Engr Shaukatullah Khan has inaugurated the four days Kalam Festival during an impressive ceremony here that was attended by elites of the City, tourists, hikers, trackers and elites of the City in large number.

The four-day festival includes horse dance, stunts, musical shows, drill shows, paragliding, hand gliding, bike display, archery, traditional dance, water sports, river crossing, kite flying, riding, jumping, tracking and much more for tourists.

Different stalls for tourists and their families were installed. The event has been organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government with the support of army aimed at bolster tourism, restore confidence of tourists and generate income activities for people of Swat.

Swat Valley is among the beautiful tourist destinations, having many sites for mountaineers, trekkers, hikers and winter sportsmen, which are still to be discovered and promoted nationally and internationally.

The Swat Summer Festival is annually held in Kalam and in Mahudand, an enchanting valley and lake at an altitude of 10,500 feet from sea level, which can by now be accessed via every type of vehicle.

The Swat Police have made foolproof security arrangements for the Festival. Special stalls for foods were also established.
