According to reports, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) claimed to have arrested the men at a gambling den in Karachi.

Reports also suggest that the little-known al-Mukhtar terrorist group was behind the incident.

The reports also hinted that the group had links to extremist groups in Waziristan.

According to SSP CID Fayyaz Khan they conducted a raid on the Super Highway and apprehended the group’s leader Mustafa Rehman Aurakzai a.k.a Yaqoob Commando, son of Syed Rehman Aurakzai, while he was trying to escape from the city.

He was arrested near Nadir Hospital in Sohrab Goth.

The police said the suspect was carrying 20kgs of explosives, one BM rocket, two hand grenades and a TT pistol.

The police also said that the al-Mukhtar group was being led by Omar Baloch in Karachi.

The police claim the terrorists tried to extort Rs200,000 as ransom from the owners of the gambling den and decided to blow the place up when refused.

However, the arrested suspect confessed that the device was detonated with a cell phone after being planted in the den.
