Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Four ships carrying containers, rice, steel coil and chemical were berthed at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and EVTL Terminal respectively on Wednesday, port sources said here Thursday,

Three more ships carrying containers and furnace oil also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was 45% at the port on Thursday where a total of five ships namely MV. Wagner, Bella-L, Nordic Tianjin, Spring Sunshine and Argent Cosmos are currently occupying berths to load/ offlaod containers, rice, cement, steel coil and chemical respectively.

A cargo volume of 40,668 tonnes comprising 22,268 tonnes imports and 18,400 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 877 containers (TEUs) was handled at the port during the last 24 hours, according to the port sources.
