HONG KONG: Hong Kong shares rose 0.59 percent in the opening minutes of trade Thursday despite a drop on the Dow in New York, pulled lower by sharp earnings-related falls in AT&T and Procter & Gamble.

The Hang Seng Index was 130.77 points higher at 22,313.82.
