Will.i.am embroiled in copyright controversy

Arty’s “Rebound”, featuring Mat Zo was released in 2011. But Will.i.am’s version, featuring Chris Brown, was uploaded to YouTube on 16th April. Arty took to Twitter last week to accuse Will.i.am of stealing his song. The new track earned 750,000 views and 14,000 comments, not all of which were appreciative.

In an interview on an American radio show, the Black Eyed Peas singer reportedly tried to explain his way out of the copyright breach by saying he wrote a different version to “Rebound” last year and then showed it to Arty for approval. There was apparently some sort of mix up, because after a year, Will.i.am decided to go ahead and use the original version and simply hoped the copyright issue had been resolved.

On the other hand, Arty reportedly says no one from Will.i.am’s team approached his label Anjunabeats.

“Let’s Go” is the fifth track from Will.i.am’s new album “Willpower”, which also includes “Fall Down” with Miley Cyrus, “#thatPOWER” with Justin Bieber and a new version of his hit “Scream and Shout” featuring Britney Spears.
