CAA spends Rs439,129 on protection of airports

According to official sources in the Defence Ministry, Rs 3,793 million was incurred by CCA on repair and maintenance-fences, Rs32,630 million on rental and hiring charges security guards, Rs121,514 million on salaries of vigilance officer and staff and Rs281,192 million on capital expenditure including maintenance.

At present, 12 international airports of CCA and one airport of private sector are operational in the country. These airports are Islamabad, Karachi, Faisalabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, R.Y. Khan , Sailkot (private airport) , Turbat and Gawadar.

The sources also informed that at present , there is no proposal under consideration by the government to purchase new aircraft for PIA. However, PIA is in process of preparing a business plan.
