Japan March wholesale prices rise 2.0pc yr/yr

Published Updated

The rise in the corporate goods price index (CGPI), which measures the price that companies charge each other for their goods and services, was bigger than a median market forecast for a 1.9 percent increase.

The impact of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami on wholesale prices was not immediately clear, as the BOJ collected data from companies both before and after the disaster.

Overall final goods prices -- the prices of finished products charged to businesses -- rose 0.1 percent.

Domestic final goods prices, which loosely track the consumer price index, increased 0.5 percent.
