The unloading of iron ore has been started by 4.2 Kms conveyer belt from Pakistan Steel Jetty at Port Qasim to PSM raw material stockyard, said a PSM release here on Thursday.

PSM had opened L/C of 8.3 million dollars to M/s Cargill International for this consignment.

The present management of Pakistan Steel has been its best efforts for maintaining timely supply chain of raw material. Several tenders were floated for the import of iron ore. Out of which 3 tenders were finalized and first shipment of 55000 metric tones of iron ore has arrived.

Besides, PSM management was struggling to make maximum use of local iron ore to continue the production.  In the light of the recent signed contracts, more shipments of iron ore are expected soon.

PSM management has highly appreciated the patience of employees during this difficult time.  He also assured the employees to get their salary slips on Friday (Feb.22) and in future they would get their salaries on time.
