 ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan told the National Assembly that he was not consulted regarding the appointment of Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (Retd) Deedar Hussain Shah Aaj TV reported on Sunday.

Chauhdary Nisar, addressing a press conference in Islamabad said, “The consultation on the appointment of the NAB chief is only possible in the backdrop of the Supreme Court’s detailed ruling (on the removal of Deedar Hussain Shah).”

Chaudhary Nisar said, “The nation has sacrificed a lot to get an independent judiciary."

Meanwhile, The Supreme Court has taken a suo motu notice of the shutter-down strike called across Sindh against its verdict declaring the appointment of NAB Chairman, Deedar Hussain Shah, null and void.

The SCP has directed the Sindh chief secretary to submit a complete record of the government’s measures before the apex court on Monday against the political leaders who had called the strike.

According to reports, the secretary has also been required to inform the apex court whether criminal cases have been registered over the loss of life and property resulting from the strike and whether the government has offered any compensation in this respect.

The court has ordered the chairman of PEMRA to furnish evidence against all TV channels regarding the strike.

Furthermore, the court has also asked the Sindh Assembly secretary to provide a record of the speeches of the MPAs in the assembly session on March 14.
