Shehbaz says his assets seized by 'NAB-Niazi nexus'

The PML-N president says he will leave politics if a corruption of single penny is proved against his children.

  • The PML-N president says he will leave politics if a corruption of single penny is proved against his children.
  • Shehbaz says NAB officials summoned him in Ashiana Scandal but they arrested him in ‘Saaf Pani case’.
  • The opposition is united and it would be better to bring in-house change as soon as possible: Shehbaz.

(Karachi) Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif has said that his properties and assets were seized by 'NAB-Niazi nexus' and through a planned conspiracy.

The PML-N president expressed these views while addressing a press conference in London on Wednesday.

His remarks came a day after the National Accountability Bureau withdrew a set of appeals when it failed to convince the Supreme Court what role former chief minister Shehbaz Sharif had played in the Ashiana Housing Scheme. NAB had sought to establish that Shehbaz had abused his authority as chief minister.

Hurling criticism over NAB and government, Shehbaz said that the opposition is united. He said, "The people have become tired of the NAB-Niazi nexus."

He added that the NAB challenged his bail in ‘Saaf Pani Case’ and Ashiana Housing Scandal but the court rejected its claim. He said, “I was summoned by NAB in Ashiana scandal and was arrested in ‘Saaf Pani case.”

He highlighted that Fawad Hassan Fawad is innocent and he was compelled to become approver  in the said cases.

He remarked, “If a corruption of a single penny is proved against my children, I will leave politics.”

He said, “If I had been involved in corruption, the government should have produced me  and the evidence in the court.”

The PML-N leader said that the whole nation is witness to the treatment meted out to us. “I have never seen a prime minister like Imran Khan who lies so much,” Shehbaz said.

He said that inflation in Pakistan has risen and the economy is in a bad shape. Shehbaz Sharif said , "It has been more than two years, but the metro train project is still in doldrums."

"Before 2014 there used to be loadshedding of more than 20 hours. This was a great challenge which Nawaz Sharif had said he will try his best to meet within five years, during campaigning in 2013."

He said, "The PML-N head worked day and night and power projects of 11000MW were completed. CPEC had an important role in it as with the cooperation of China, thousands of megawatts of electrical power projects were installed as an investment."

He said it would be better to bring in-house change as soon as possible.

Shehbaz maintained that the credit of development in the country goes to Nawaz Sharif. “Nawaz Sharif’s only mistake was to bring the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to Pakistan.”

Meanwhile, reacting to Shehbaz Sharif's press conference, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Shehbaz Sharif’s claim of being innocent in Ashiana Housing scheme scandal is baseless as the case is still under trial in the court.

Awan said that the PML-N leader’s claim is false as the court did not gave him a clearance certificate in the said case. She added Shehbaz wants to create an impression that he was falsely implicated in the Ashiana Housing scheme case which is not true.
