ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain Wednesday said the government and military leadership were on the same page and both were collectively working for securing the interests of the country.

The minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan, who visited ISI headquarters today, has lauded the services and contributions of the ISI towards national security, especially in the ongoing counter terrorism efforts as it was the best intelligence agency of the world.

Fawad said Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, and Director General ISI Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar received the Prime Minister on his arrival. Prime Minister Imran Khan along with the COAS and the DG ISI laid a wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha.

To a question he said the government and citizens of the country firmly stood behind the armed forces and intelligence agencies and greatly acknowledged the unprecedented achievements of these security institutions.

He said the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a huge tool for development and attracting investment and no country should have the right to raise objections over it. Pakistan wanted durable peace in Afghanistan so that the objective of regional connectivity could be expanded to the neighbouring country, he added.

Pakistan had also invited all the friendly and interested countries to avail the investment opportunities emerging from the CPEC projects, he said.

The minister said different institutions make up a state and these were working in cohesion to formulate a national policy and secure the national interests.

Advancing the objective of a peaceful neighbourhood, the armed forces of Pakistan supported prime minister Imran Khan's stance regarding India, he added.
