Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit on Tuesday while calling for resolving issues between New Delhi and Islamabad through talks said that he hoped both the countries will move from 'confrontation to co-operation' in coming days. Speaking during the 'Eid Milan' party at Pakistan High Commission here, Basit said.
"We wish that both countries live together and aid in each other's development. I want to assure you that Pakistan under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif wants good relations with India. We want that the issues between our two nations, especially the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, should be solved through bilateral talks."
"We hope that in coming months we will hold talks so that we can move from confrontation to co-operation. We pray that this becomes a reality. We hope that our people come close to each other," he added. Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid Syed Bukhari and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ilyas Azmi were among those who showed up at the event.
