JAKARTA: Indonesia’s rice output in 2026 is expected to reach 33.11 million metric tons, down 4.57 percent from the 34.69 million tons the previous year, statistics bureau data showed on Monday.

Output this year is expected to be affected by a prolonged dry season caused by the El Niño weather pattern.

The government has tried to mitigate the impact by adopting measures such as bringing forward the planting period and distributing water pumps.
