PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said that the people of the province have emerged from ‘a dark tunnel’ and are now moving towards the light.
Talking to the media here on Wednesday said that although there are challenges related to the border, no compromise will be made when it comes to national interests.
He added that those who have been announcing deadlines have already lost their credibility.
He further said that the suggestions of the province’s people would be heard.
He said that for the past 13 years, the province had not taken ownership of the federal policies aimed at combating terrorism, but his administration would now take the responsibility for implementing those policies.
The governor said that issues such as gas load-shedding during winter and flour shortages would be addressed.
He added that he had previously raised concerns with the federal government and would continue to do so. This time; however, his administration would take ownership of its responsibilities.
He said development projects would be undertaken, but maintaining peace would remain the top priority. If necessary, development funds would be reduced to ensure adequate resources for peace and security.
He said 17,000 positions in the provincial police force are vacant. He said he had directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to proceed with recruitment and promotions.
