ISLAMABAD: Army on Tuesday successfully test-launched the hypersonic Fatah-2 Extended Range (ER) ballistic missile, capable of penetrating enemy missile defence systems and striking deep targets with high precision, the military’s media wing said.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the advanced weapon system is equipped with sophisticated navigation technology and state-of-the-art avionics, significantly enhancing the Pakistan Army’s operational reach and precision-strike capabilities.

The ISPR said the missile’s unique trajectory and manoeuvrability enable it to overcome enemy missile defence systems, while its extended range strengthens the Army’s ability to engage targets at greater distances.

The successful test launch was witnessed by the Commander Army Rocket Force Command (ARFC), senior Pakistan Army officers, and scientists and engineers associated with the programme.

The ARFC commander appreciated the dedication and technical expertise of the scientists and engineers involved in developing the advanced weapon system.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and the services chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on the successful test launch of the extended-range Fatah-2 missile system.
