ISLAMABAD: The federal government’s special fuel relief scheme has crossed a major milestone, with around 7.6 million registrations completed across the country and 7.71 million fuel relief tokens already redeemed.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator (DPM/FM) Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the National Steering Committee on Fuel Subsidy to review implementation of the Prime Minister’s Special Fuel Relief Scheme.
According to the DPM’s office, the Committee reviewed progress on registration, token redemption, payments, and complaint management.

The Committee was informed that to date, around 7.6 million registrations have been successfully made and the token redemption process has entered the second week. To date, 7.71 million tokens have been redeemed.
DPM Dar appreciated the success of the scheme and highlighted that it was a reflection of the “whole of Government” approach in which the Ministry of Information Technology & Telecom; Ministry of Information & Broadcasting; Ministry of Petroleum; Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA); State Bank of Pakistan and Provinces have all made concerted efforts.
Dar stressed the need for continued coordination to facilitate beneficiaries and ensure smooth service delivery across the country.
In addition, DPM Dar also chaired a meeting of the Committee for Monitoring and Implementation of Conservation and Additional Austerity Measures.
The Committee reviewed progress on the austerity and conservation measures. Discussions focused on ensuring fiscal discipline and the prudent use of public resources. Dar directed all concerned ministries and divisions to fully and effectively implement the decisions taken at previous meetings.
The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr Musadik Malik, SAPM on Foreign Affairs, Secretary of the Cabinet, and officials from the Ministries of Interior, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Commerce, Law & Justice, and Climate Change and Environmental Coordination.
