KARACHI: Ismail Suttar, Qasim Yaqoob Paracha and Shah Shamas-ul-Arifeen has been elected unopposed as chairman, senior vice chairman and vice chairman respectively of the Salt Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SMAP) for the year 2026-28.
The association also announced the final list of its 20-member Executive Committee for the 2026-28 term.
The committee comprises Ismail Suttar, Qasim Yaqoob Paracha, Shah Shamas-ul-Arifeen, Muhammad Ali Shahid, Zeeshan Abdul Aziz, Khalid Mahmood Paracha, Muhammad Aslam, Tariq Mahmood, Talha Hussain Khan and Shakeel Ahmed Samoo.
Other members of the Executive Committee include Naeem Iqbal, Jawad Anwar Khan Sherwani, Muhammad Sohail, Faizan Abdul Razzak, Zohaib Jawed Akhtar, Sheikh Emad Magoon, Shan Muhammad, Bushra Suleman, Tariq Mehmood Akhtar and Saad Imran.
The newly-elected office-bearers will serve for a two-year term and will be responsible for advancing the association’s objectives and addressing issues facing the country’s salt industry.
Speaking after his unopposed election, newly elected SMAP Chairman Ismail Suttar thanked members for reposing their confidence in him and said he would continue efforts to address the issues confronting salt exporters.
Suttar said the association would work to present a strong voice for its members before the government and seek measures to promote Pakistan’s salt exports.
He also emphasised the need for value addition to Pakistani salt products to help exporters access new international markets.
