Pakistan, 7 other countries reject forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza

  • Foreign ministers specifically condemn remarks by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz
Published Updated

Pakistan and seven other Muslim nations have strongly condemned statements and proposals calling for the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza Strip, terming them and a violation of international law and threat to Palestinian rights.

In a statement, the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and the United Arab Emirates, in a joint statement issued on Sunday, rejected any attempts or plans aimed at displacing Palestinians from their land, whether within or outside the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The ministers specifically condemned remarks by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz regarding the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, including proposals for mechanisms to forcibly remove them.

They warned that turning calls for forced displacement into official policy or concrete measures would undermine international efforts to achieve peace, including US President Donald Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, which explicitly rejects forced displacement.

The foreign ministers stressed that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and called for preserving the unity of Palestinian territory, including Gaza and the West Bank, with East Jerusalem.

The foreign ministers stressed that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and called for preserving the unity of the Palestinian territory, including Gaza and the West Bank, with East Jerusalem.

They reaffirmed that a just and lasting peace could only be achieved through implementation of the two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian state established along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.

The ministers also called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to shoulder its responsibilities and firmly oppose attempts to impose a new demographic or geographic reality in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

They reaffirmed their support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land and rejected attempts to erase the Palestinian cause or undermine their legitimate rights.
