Brazil’s 2026/27 first corn planting reaches 11pc

SAO PAULO: Farmers in Brazil’s center-south had planted 11percent of the 2026/27 first corn crop as of last Thursday, up from 2percent a week earlier and ahead of the 7percent recorded a year ago, agribusiness consultancy AgRural said on Monday.

Planting remained concentrated in southern Brazil, as is typical for this time of year, with Rio Grande do Sul leading fieldwork, AgRural said. Harvesting of the 2026 second corn crop reached 96percent, up from 92percent a week earlier. Harvest progress remained behind last year’s pace, when the second corn crop harvest had already been completed.
