Riyadh Air commences operations in Pakistan with inaugural flight to Islamabad

Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s new national carrier, has officially commenced its operations in Pakistan with the arrival of its inaugural flight RX-660 from Riyadh at Islamabad International Airport on Friday evening, according to a Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) statement.
The flight arrived with 69 passengers and was received with a ceremonial water salute as it taxied towards the terminal, marking Riyadh Air’s first-ever arrival in Pakistan, the PAA said.
Riyadh Air is expected to operate seven flights per week between Riyadh and Islamabad, providing an additional direct air link between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
An inauguration ceremony was held at Islamabad International Airport by the PAA. The ceremony was graced by Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia H.E. Nawaf Bin Said Al-Malki as Chief Guest and attended by Director General PAA Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed, senior government officials and senior management of Riyadh Air.
Speaking on the occasion, the Saudi Ambassador highlighted the significance of Riyadh Air’s inaugural service in further strengthening the longstanding relations and air connectivity between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
DG PAA Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed welcomed the commencement of Riyadh Air’s operations and highlighted the importance of the new air link in enhancing connectivity, facilitating passenger movement and promoting greater cooperation in the aviation sector.
The ceremony included a ribbon-cutting and cake-cutting to mark the launch. Riyadh Air’s senior management also highlighted the airline’s future expansion plans and potential for further growth in Pakistan.
Following the inauguration ceremony, flight RX-660 departed Islamabad International Airport at 09:56 p.m. with 272 passengers.
The commencement of Riyadh Air’s operations marks an important milestone in Pakistan-Saudi Arabia air connectivity and represents a positive development for bilateral relations and the aviation sector.
