KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) and other advanced technologies into the recruitment and examination system of the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC).
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Minister’s Special Assistant for Information technology, the chairman of the SPSC, the secretary of information technology and the chief executive officer of the Sindh Information Technology Company.
The chief secretary said AI and modern technology would be used to make the Commission’s examination process more efficient, transparent and technology-driven.
“Artificial intelligence will be used to reduce unnecessary human intervention at certain stages of the examination process while ensuring merit, transparency and fairness,” Shah said.
He said modern technology would be utilised in the preparation of question papers, assessment and management of examination data.
The chief secretary said the government would establish technology-equipped workstations across the province to provide candidates from different areas with access to modern examination facilities.
He said the AI-based examination system would not remain limited to the SPSC.
In subsequent phases, the technology would also be introduced in educational boards, other major examinations and various stages of the government recruitment process.
He said the new technology would be introduced to SPSC in phases and with appropriate safeguards to protect the integrity and credibility of the examination system.
He said greater use of modern technology in government institutions would help improve administrative efficiency and public service delivery.
