LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab on Tuesday said that water flows in drains adjoining the Ravi River were gradually increasing, with moderate flood conditions prevailing in several drains.
According to the Punjab PDMA, a moderate flood situation was reported at Jalala where the flow in Nullah Ojh stood at 39,900 cusecs.
Similarly, Nullah Dek was carrying 7,720 cusecs, while Nullah KakkarDek had a flow of 16,487 cusecs, both indicating moderate flood conditions.
The PDMA Director-General, Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa, said, on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, continuous monitoring of all the rivers and their adjoining drains across the province was under way.
He said all relevant institutions and district administrations were closely monitoring the situation, while emergency control rooms in all districts, along with the central control room of PDMA, remained on full alert.
In view of the potential flood situation, necessary measures had been directed to relevant departments, he added.
However, another PDMA report said water flows in most rivers of Punjab remained normal.
The water situation in the Chenab, Jhelum, Ravi and Sutlej rivers was normal, while water flows in the rivers of Dera Ghazi Khan were also being recorded as normal.
However, a low-level flood was being recorded in the Indus River at Kalabagh and Chashma.
At Kalabagh, the inflow was recorded at 286,000 cusecs against an outflow of 278,000 cusecs.
The authority said Tarbela Dam was 100 percent full while Mangla Dam was 65 percent full.
Thane Dam was 50 percent full, Pong Dam 47 percent and Bhakra Dam 43 percent full.
