RAWALPINDI: Somalia’s Defence Minister Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to the military’s media wing, the high-level Somali delegation and the Pakistan Army chief discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, and measures to further strengthen bilateral defence and security cooperation.
Both sides emphasised the importance of enhancing military-to-military ties and expanding capacity-building initiatives to address common security challenges.
The ISPR said the visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s unwavering support and the professional role of the Pakistan Armed Forces in promoting regional peace and stability.
Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Somalia in strengthening its security institutions and fostering lasting peace in the region, the ISPR added.
