ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) has announced a decrease in the ex-depot prices of petrol and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) for August 5, based on the recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra).

Under the revised rates, petrol price has been reduced by Rs3.39 per litre from Rs331.95 to Rs328.56, while HSD saw a decrease of Rs4.07, moving from Rs389.93 to Rs385.86.

High-Speed Diesel lands at Rs273.29 per litre on August 5, down from Rs277.36 on August 4 (a decrease of Rs4.07). Petrol lands at Rs201.56, down from Rs204.95 on August 4 (a decrease of Rs3.39).

Under the current pricing framework, Ogra updates fuel tariffs daily to reflect Singapore Platts trends in the last seven working days and currency exchange movements.

The All Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance announced a wheel jam strike on August 8. They demanded that taxes on diesel be reduced and fuel prices be restored to July 1, 2024 level.

Meanwhile, the petroleum levy remains unchanged at Rs80 per litre on petrol and Rs70.82 on HSD. Climate Support Levy (CSL) is maintained at Rs5. Custom Duty is set at Rs18.1 on petrol and Rs15.68 on HSD.
