ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday praised the Pakistan Navy for successfully rescuing 19 fishermen stranded in the northern Arabian Sea during an operation carried out by Pakistan Navy ship PNS Taimur.
In separate statements, the president and the prime minister said the successful operation reflected the Pakistan Navy’s professionalism, dedication and constant readiness to save lives at sea.
President Zardari said the rescue demonstrated the Pakistan Navy’s strong commitment to protecting human lives and fulfilling its national and international responsibilities. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the officers and personnel of the Pakistan Navy for safely rescuing all 19 crew members aboard the fishing vessel, including 11 Pakistanis and eight Iranians.
He said the Navy personnel also provided the stranded fishermen with food, drinking water and medical assistance at sea, calling it a clear demonstration of the armed forces humanitarian values and professional excellence.
