KARACHI: Pakistan Navy (PN) on Thursday rescued a stranded fishing vessel carrying 19 crew members in the North Arabian Sea after it developed an engine fault approximately 120 nautical miles south of Gawadar, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General Public Relations (Navy).
The navy said Fishing Vessel (FV) Al Jalali became stranded at sea after suffering engine failure, while deteriorating monsoon weather conditions further worsened the situation and placed the crew at risk.
The vessel was carrying 19 crew members, including 11 Pakistani and eight Iranian nationals.
According to the statement, the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) received the distress call and coordinated with the Pakistan Navy to launch an immediate search and rescue operation.
Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Taimur was tasked to respond to the emergency and provide assistance to the distressed vessel.
The navy said personnel aboard PNS Taimur provided food, drinking water and medical assistance to the stranded crew before towing the fishing vessel safely towards the shore.
The Pakistan Navy said the successful rescue operation reflected its readiness to respond to maritime emergencies and its commitment to ensuring the safety of life at sea across the region.
