The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has given a warning of fresh spell of monsoon rains across the country. Now the people have to brace for a new challenge. The regions of the country that are likely to bear the brunt of the upcoming rains, according to the PMD forecast, are the low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore, Multan and Faisalabad from July 30 to August 4.
Moreover, the PMD said there is a danger of landslides in several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We are in the midst of the monsoon period which usually lasts from June to September. According to reports, it is currently the peak monsoon season in South Asia, with active rainy spells affecting various regions. The country is already reeling from the above-normal temperatures this summer. We are heading into August which is known as the rainiest. Apart from the monsoon season, the world’s weather is becoming more and more alarming. An analysis by some Western scientists say another hot year is a “warning shot” of shifting, dangerous climate. Again, it is a reminder to the people about the havoc that environmental degradation has wreaked. The environmentalists have continuously warning people to mend their ways to save the environment.
