ISLAMABAD: The ex-depot price of petrol is reduced by Rs1 per litre meanwhile, increased the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs3.37 per litre, effective for July 28.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), based on recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), the petrol has been reduced from Rs335.18 to Rs334.18 per litre and the price of HSD has been increased from Rs383.46 to Rs386.83 per litre.

Under the revised framework, OGRA determines and announces fuel prices on a daily basis in accordance with fluctuations in international oil prices and exchange rate movements. The government on Saturday kept the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel unchanged for July 26 and 27 due to the non-publication of Platts prices on weekends.

Meanwhile, the petroleum levy remains unchanged at Rs 80 per litre on petrol and Rs 70.82 per litre on HSD. Climate Support Levy (CSL) is maintained at Rs 5 per litre. Custom Duty is set at Rs 17.28 per litre on petrol and Rs 15.68 per litre on HSD and Premium (incl. Freight) is held at USD9.4 per barrel for petrol and USD5.1 per barrel for HSD.

In a related development, government set up a committee to negotiation with the All Oil Tankers Contractors Association to address their demands.

Average petrol prices in last seven days are recorded at USD110.3 per bbl, while HSD stood at USD151.6 per barrel with an exchange rate against dollar around Rs 278.
