Minister links economic growth to strengthening local industry

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar Thursday said that Pakistan’s economic growth depends on strengthening local industry and increasing domestic production.

Speaking at the inauguration of a new state-of-the-art carbonated soft drinks production line at Murree Brewery’s manufacturing facility in Rawalpindi, the minister said industrial expansion would help reduce reliance on imported goods, create jobs, and support economic activity.

He appreciated Murree Brewery CEO Isphanyar Bhandara for investing in modern automated technology and said such projects reflected the potential of Pakistan’s industrial sector.

“Industrial development creates employment not only within factories but also across the wider supply chain, including transportation, distribution, and retail,” Tarar said.

During his visit, the minister toured the newly installed production line and was briefed about its manufacturing process and advanced technology.

Speaking on the occasion, Murree Brewery CEO Isphanyar Bhandara said the new Chinese-imported production line would enhance the company’s carbonated soft drinks production capacity while maintaining high quality standards.

The installation of this new plant has created around 100 employment opportunities. Pakistan has great potential in the food and beverage sector, and local manufacturing can play an important role in economic development, he said.

Bhandara added that the investment in modern production facilities was part of Murree Brewery’s continued efforts to expand its manufacturing capabilities and contribute to Pakistan’s industrial growth.
