ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) recommended the confirmation and appointment of additional judges for the Lahore High Court (LHC) and the Balochistan High Court (BHC).
The Commission in its meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi at the Conference Room of the Supreme Court Building, Islamabad also considered proposals for amendments in the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (Appointment of Judges) Rules, 2024.
The sources shared that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s two members in the JCP, Barrister Ali Zafar and Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, did not attend the meeting.
The Commission, by a majority of its total membership, recommended the confirmation of Additional Judge Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa as the judge of Lahore High Court.
It also, by a majority of its total membership, recommended the appointment of Amir Ajam Malik, ASC; Asad Ali Bajwa, ASC; Barrister Muhammad Usman Ghani Rashid Cheema, ASC; Ghulam Sarwar Nihang, ASC; Khalid Ibn-i-Aziz, ASC; Muhammad Ajmal Khan Zahid, ASC; Muhammad Amjad Pervaiz, ASC; Munawar Iqbal Duggal, ASC; Shiren Imran, ASC; and Syed Farhad Ali, ASC, as the additional judges of the Lahore High Court.
