KARACHI: Federal government has issued new travel guidelines for dual-nationality Pakistani citizens, enforcing them with immediate effect at all airports nationwide.
Immigration authorities at all entry points have been formally notified about the change.
Under the revised guidelines, dual nationals seeking to enter Pakistan must hold either a valid Pakistani visa or a valid National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).
Officials said passengers carrying an expired or cancelled NICOP will no longer be permitted entry, regardless of nationality or country of departure.
Sources said the restriction applies uniformly to dual nationals arriving from any country, including the United Kingdom.
Holders of foreign passports will now be required to present a valid Pakistani visa or a current NICOP to gain entry.
According to the notice, British, US and countries passport holders traveling with a valid NICOP remain eligible for entry, but those with an expired NICOP will be denied a landing permit and refused entry at the border.
Travelers must carry a valid Pakistani passport, a valid NICOP, or a valid Pakistani visa to be allowed in.
Airlines have been directed to ensure all relevant staff are briefed on the policy and that affected passengers are informed before boarding to avoid denied boarding or refusal of entry upon arrival.
