ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Türkiye signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of family welfare, social services, and social security.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to promoting joint initiatives in these areas.

Türkiye’s Minister for Family and Social Services, Mahinur Özdemir Gökta?, held a meeting with Federal Minister for Law and Justice, who also holds the additional portfolio of Human Rights, Azam Nazeer Tarar, in Islamabad on Sunday.

During the meeting, the two sides held detailed discussions on women’s rights, strengthening the family system, and promoting social security.

They also agreed to enhance cooperation in protecting the family institution, promoting the rights of women and children, and advancing joint policy initiatives in the digital sphere.

Pakistan and Türkiye further agreed to strengthen collaboration in family welfare, women’s rights, social security, and institutional cooperation through the exchange of experiences and the implementation of joint projects.

Meanwhile, Azam Nazeer Tarar also held a detailed meeting with Jalila Allahverdiyeva, Head of the Administrative Division of the OIC Labour Centre, Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the Federal Minister emphasized that Islam grants women dignity, equality, and fundamental rights, and said it is the collective responsibility of the Muslim Ummah to protect and promote these rights.

The Minister for Human Rights said Pakistan is actively pursuing priority measures for women’s empowerment and development. He noted that women are playing a prominent role in the country’s politics, Parliament, judiciary, education, business, and various other sectors.
