Pakistan successfully intercepted four drones launched by the Afghan Taliban, warning of severe consequences for continued provocations and their alleged support for terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.

Pakistan successfully neutralised four drones launched by the Afghan Taliban regime, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
In a press release, the ISPR said the Afghan Taliban had launched four rudimentary drones across the border in Balochistan on Tuesday “as part of their patronisation and support of terrorist outfits operating from inside their controlled territories”.
It said the hostile aerial platforms were immediately picked up by Pakistan’s robust air defence.
Due to the swift and effective response by Pakistan, the malicious attempts were effectively thwarted, ISPR said.
“Such gimmicks of the Afghan Taliban regime are aimed at misleading the Afghan population suffering under their oppressive regime.
The Afghan Taliban should realise that their irresponsible behaviour is only adding to the hardships of the Afghan people,” the military’s media wing said.
The ISPR said that instead of trying to sedate their population through such antics and hollow rhetoric, the Afghan Taliban should eschew sponsorship of terrorism and adhere to the principle of peaceful coexistence.
“However, if the Afghan Taliban continue to provoke Pakistan, they would receive a befitting response which would cost them heavily,” the statement warned.
“The Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully vigilant and capable of defending every inch of the motherland.”
The drone attack followed a bomb and gun attack on a Sindh Rangers facility in Karachi, which martyred three paramilitary troops and injured four on Saturday.
Militants from the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a faction of the Pakistani Taliban, detonated an explosive at the entrance of the Rangers camp in Gulistan-i-Jauhar neighbourhood before opening fire on the troops, the military said in a statement.
Subsequently, Pakistan lodged a protest with the Afghan Taliban authorities over the terrorist attack in Karachi, summoning Afghanistan’s chargé d’affaires in Islamabad and conveying a formal demarche over the involvement of Afghan nationals in the incident.
