HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Divisional Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi and DIG Hyderabad Tariq Razzaq Dharejo arrived in Sehwan on the Muharram to conduct a detailed review of arrangements for the holy month.

They were accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro Ghazanfar Ali Qadri, SSP Jamshoro Muhammad Zafar Siddique Chhanga, Assistant Commissioner Sehwan Babar Ali, and officers from other relevant departments.

The Divisional Commissioner and DIG visited the shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, Jahangara, Bajara, as well as various Imambargahs, majalis, and mourning processions to inspect security, cleanliness, lighting, and other facilities. They met with organizers to obtain detailed information about the Muharram arrangements.

Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi directed the relevant officers to ensure cleanliness, lighting, security, traffic management, and all other arrangements along the routes of majalis and mourning processions at all costs so that mourners do not face any hardship.

Talking to the media later, the Divisional Commissioner said that Majalis and mourning processions in Sehwan were proceeding in a peaceful atmosphere on the 8th of Muharram. He stated that across the Hyderabad division, 275 mourning processions would be taken out on the 9th of Muharram and 495 on the 10th, while in Jamshoro district, 28 processions would be held on the 9th and 43 on the 10th, for which all arrangements had been completed.

Surveillance of mourning processions is being conducted through drone cameras. He added that the police, Pakistan Army, Rangers, HESCO, Rescue 1122, the health department, district administration, DC office control room, and volunteer scouts are fulfilling their responsibilities in complete coordination.

On the occasion, DIG Hyderabad Tariq Razzaq Dharejo told the media that approximately 18,000 police personnel are deployed on Muharram duties across the Hyderabad division, while Pakistan Army and Rangers personnel are also performing security duties.

He further stated that 1,600 police personnel have been deployed at various majalis and mourning processions in Jamshoro district. They are actively maintaining law and order through patrolling, strict checking at entry and exit points, and other security measures to provide a safe and peaceful environment for mourners.
