KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister and Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah held a meeting with a delegation of Ahle Sunnat scholars led by Hafiz Jameel Rathore to discuss security arrangements, municipal services and other key issues related to the holy months of Muharram-ul-Haram and Rabi-ul-Awwal.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on maintaining peace, religious harmony, interfaith understanding and public convenience during religious gatherings and processions.
Speaking on the occasion, Nasir Hussain Shah said that people belonging to all schools of thought have deep love and respect for Ahl-e-Bait and stressed the need to further strengthen unity, tolerance and brotherhood in society.
He further said the Sindh government is committed to ensuring peaceful observance of Muharram and Rabi-ul-Awwal through coordinated efforts of all relevant institutions. The minister announced that meetings of the Ahle Sunnat delegation with the Chief Minister Sindh, the Home Minister and concerned Deputy Commissioners would soon be arranged to address issues and facilitate better coordination.
He directed the concerned authorities to prepare at the earliest a comprehensive list of infrastructure-related requirements of mosques, madrasas and imambargahs so that necessary development works could be undertaken on a priority basis.
Nasir Hussain Shah also announced the construction of a pedestrian bridge near Rabia City to facilitate residents and ensure safe movement of pedestrians. He further directed that security plans be devised in a manner that minimizes inconvenience to the public during road closures associated with religious events and processions.
