PESHAWAR: At least seven people were killed and three others injured in two consecutive explosions in the Barghantu area within the limits of Ahmadzai Police Station in district Bannu.
District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu Yasir Afridi said the first explosion occurred near a passenger Datsun vehicle carrying civilians.
The second blast took place at the scene while rescue activities were underway.
Police said seven people died on the spot, while three injured persons were shifted for medical treatment.
The bodies of the deceased were moved to RHC Domel and the injured were transferred to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital.
According to local sources, the Datsun vehicle was carrying members of the Hathikhel tribe who were travelling towards Bannu city.
Following the incident, security agencies reached the site and launched an investigation while collecting evidence to determine the nature and circumstances of the explosions.
