MUMBAI: India’s stock benchmarks rose for a fourth consecutive session on Wednesday, their longest winning streak in two months, aided by falling crude oil prices after the US-Iran peace deal.
The Nifty 50 rose 0.4 percent to 24,085.70, while the BSE Sensex added 0.45 percent to 77,155.62. The indexes have gained about 4 percent and 4.5 percent, respectively, in four sessions.
Ten of the 16 major sectors advanced, while the broader small-caps and mid-caps climbed 0.8 percent and 0.5 percent, respectively.
Broader Asian markets rose 0.3 percent.
Brent crude futures hovered around USD79 a barrel, after dropping 5.1 percent in the previous session to close near three-month lows.
A senior US official said Washington would waive sanctions on Iranian oil under the deal to end the Middle East war, raising the prospect of millions of additional barrels of supply.
