Pakistan beat Afghanistan to clinch International Football Tournament title

Pakistan’s national football team made history by winning the Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament 2026 after defeating Afghanistan 2-0 in the final played on Wednesday night in Malé, Maldives.

Pakistan remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, securing three consecutive victories on their way to lifting the trophy.

The triumph marks Pakistan’s first-ever title win in the final of a standalone international football tournament, a landmark achievement for the national side.

The four teams who participated in the tournament were Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh U-23, and hosts Maldives.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended his heartiest congratulations to Pakistan’s football team on winning the 2026 Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament.

In a post on his X handle, he said their impressive victory over Afghanistan in the final has brought pride and joy to the entire nation.

He also extended his best wishes to the talented squad for their future endeavors.
