KARACHI: Chairman Consumers Association of Pakistan (CAP) Kokab Iqbal has expressed serious concern over the disruption of water supply in various areas of Karachi due to the suspension of power supply at Dhabeji Pumping Station once again.
He said that it is extremely unfortunate that during the last one month, the citizens have faced severe difficulties due to three to four technical failures, damage to water lines and interruption in power supply in the Dhabeji pumping station and its related systems. This situation gives the impression that the concerned institutions have failed to find a permanent and sustainable solution.
Kokab Iqbal demanded that Provincial Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah conduct a high-level inquiry into these recurring incidents and direct the concerned officers to take immediate and effective steps to ensure continuous and uninterrupted supply of water to the affected areas of Karachi, especially North Nazimabad and its adjoining areas.
He said that during the intense heat season, the citizens of Karachi are already facing power load shedding and other problems, while the disruption in water supply has further increased the problems of the people. Citizens are being deprived of basic facilities, which is unacceptable in any case.
CAP chairman also appealed to the Chief Executive Officer of K-Electric to direct the concerned technical staff to complete the repair work as soon as possible without further delay so that relief can be provided to the people of Karachi and the water supply system can be restored immediately.
He expressed hope that all relevant institutions will fulfill their responsibilities efficiently and take practical steps to permanently resolve the problems of the citizens.
