ISLAMABAD: DPM/FM Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Committee to follow up on Pakistan’s preparations for assuming the Chairmanship of the Council of Heads of State (CHS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for 2026–27.
He reviewed the ongoing preparatory work and directed all concerned Ministries and Departments to undertake comprehensive planning and coordination to ensure the successful hosting of the SCO CHS Summit in 2027.
DPM/FM emphasized that Pakistan, as an important regional player, attaches high priority to the SCO framework and its upcoming Chairmanship, which would reflect Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation, connectivity, and multilateral engagement.
He further stressed the importance of timely execution, effective inter-agency coordination, and high standards of logistical and substantive preparations.
The meeting was attended by SAPM Tariq Bajwa, SAPM Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Secretary Foreign Affairs Ambassador Amna Baloch, Special Secretary Interior and Narcotics, Chairman CDA, IG Police Islamabad, and other senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant ministries.
