KARACHI: Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi and Sindh government representatives on Friday highlighted the importance of the Constitution, urging citizens to uphold its principles without compromise.

His message on the Constitution Day, the governor said Pakistan’s Constitution remained the cornerstone of the country’s unity, security and federal structure.

Hashmi said the 1973 Constitution guarantees fundamental rights, including freedom of expression and religious liberty, and serves as a framework for democratic governance.

“The protection of the constitution is a national duty of every Pakistani, and there can be no compromise on it,” he said.

He added that adherence to the rule of law and operating within constitutional limits were essential for sustainable development and stability.

The governor also stressed the importance of equipping youth with information technology skills and modern education, calling it a key pillar for building a prosperous future.

Hashmi said national unity was critical for ensuring constitutional supremacy and economic stability, adding that the federal government would continue to extend full support for development projects across Sindh, including Karachi.

Pakistan marks the Constitution Day annually to commemorate the adoption of the 1973 Constitution.

Sindh Adviser on Rehabilitation Gianchand Esrani, in message, said Pakistan’s Constitution is the foundation of national stability and democratic strength.

Esrani said the 1973 Constitution, introduced under Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, reflects national consensus and remains the guarantee of parliamentary democracy.

He said the charter is a product of democratic struggle and national agreement, adding that its enforcement is key to development, prosperity and rule of law.

Esrani also paid tribute to Benazir Bhutto for strengthening democracy and said provincial autonomy has further reinforced the federation.

He stressed that constitutional supremacy, national unity and adherence to law are essential for Pakistan’s progress and stability.
