PESHAWAR: A total of six candidates filed nomination papers with the Provincial Election Commissioner (Returning Officer) for a vacant general seat in Senate, said a press release issued here on Wednesday.

Those who filed nomination papers include Irfan Saleem, Abdul Haseeb, Asghar Ali, Sajjad Khan Mohmand, Rahila Bibi and Ghulam Badshah. The names of the candidates will be published tomorrow (Thursday).

The scrutiny of nomination papers will be completed till April 10, 2026 while objections over the nominations or their rejection will be filed with tribunal till April 13, 2026, which give decision on them till April 15, 2026. The final list of the candidates will be published on April 16, 2026.

Last date for the withdrawal of nomination papers is April 17, 2026 and polling to fill the vacant seat will be held on April 23, 2026. The seat was fallen vacant due to disqualification of Murad Saeed.
