LAHORE: Under a zero-tolerance policy against electricity theft, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) South Circle conducted extensive enforcement operations from April 2025 to March 2026, taking disciplinary action against 296 officials.

During this period, more than 128,000 electricity connections were inspected, with irregularities detected in 11,441 cases. According to data received from LESCO headquarters, 6,294 cases involved direct supply connections, while 1,165 meters were found to have been tampered with. Additionally, 325 bogus or shunted meters were identified, along with 3,657 other violations of varying nature. As a result of these actions, over 28.63 million units were charged to offenders. Meanwhile, departmental proceedings were initiated against 296 officers and staff members involved in facilitating power theft.

The LESCO authorities stated that indiscriminate action against electricity theft will continue, emphasizing that all available resources are being utilized to curb the menace. They warned that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in power theft, as well as their facilitators.
