Fuel shortage: Sindh govt implementing all federal decisions: Sharjeel

KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has stated that the Sindh government will respond to any decisions taken by the federal government to prevent a fuel shortage. He added that the provincial government is implementing all federal decisions, and further important measures are also being taken.

In a statement regarding the Sindh government’s austerity measures, he said that, in view of the current situation, the Sindh cabinet has decided to forgo salaries for three months. It has also been decided to implement a four-day workweek, while Fridays will be observed as work-from-home days.

He said that the decisions of the federal government will continue to be supported at all levels. All possible steps are being taken to ensure public needs are met and fuel reserves are maintained. These measures will remain in place until the situation is fully under control.

Sharjeel Inam Memon further stated that if the federal government decides to impose a lockdown, the Sindh government will fully implement it. He emphasized the importance of avoiding a situation that could lead to fuel and energy shortages.

He added that, under a Sindh government decision, 60 percent of government vehicles have been grounded. Several key measures are being taken to conserve fuel and prevent possible inflation. If the federal government requires further cooperation, the Sindh government will extend full support.

He also appealed to the public to work from home wherever possible, stating that this is not an individual issue but a collective challenge. He stressed that fuel conservation and energy reserves can only be preserved through public cooperation.

He further said that, given the current regional situation, all decisions are being made with the government’s top priority being to keep prices under control and prevent fuel shortages at all costs. Important decisions have also been taken regarding public transport to ensure maximum facilities for the people.
