ISLAMABAD: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has expressed gratitude to Pakistan for standing by Tehran during the escalation with the United States and Israel.
In a message posted on X in Urdu, Araghchi said Iran remains firm in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity, placing its trust in Allah Almighty. He thanked the government and people of Pakistan for their solidarity, noting that their support in the Holy Month of Ramadan reflects a strong sense of unity with Iran in the face of external aggression.
The statement comes in the aftermath of heightened tensions in the Middle East. On February 28, the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran, prompting Tehran to retaliate with missile and drone attacks on American bases across the Gulf, including in Saudi Arabia.

Pakistan had offered to mediate between Tehran and Washington to help de-escalate the situation. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister reiterated Pakistan’s support for Iran’s right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, while stressing that Pakistan would not allow itself to be drawn into a wider regional conflict.
Meanwhile, as the conflict enters its third week, global energy markets remain unsettled due to the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Abbas Araghchi further said hundreds of Iranian civilians have been killed in Israel-U.S. bombings, including over 200 school children.
Reports claim that some neighbouring states, which host US forces and permit attacks on Iran, are also actively encouraging this slaughter. Stances should be promptly clarified, he further mentioned.
