274 Taliban killed: DG ISPR

Published February 28, 2026 Updated February 28, 2026 04:56am

ISLAMABAD: The Afghan Taliban regime must make a clear and irreversible choice between standing with Pakistan, or aligning itself with terrorist organisations, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said on Friday, as he confirmed that at least 274 Taliban regime personnel and affiliated militants have been killed in Pakistan’s ongoing cross-border operation.

Addressing a detailed press briefing on the security forces’ response to the unprovoked aggression along the Pak-Afghan border, the military spokesperson declared that “there is no middle ground.”

The oppressive Afghan Taliban regime has to make a clear choice, he said. “Whether they choose, Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, Baloch Liberation Army, Daesh, Al Qaeda and other terrorist organisations, or Pakistan, our choice is absolutely clear. It will always be Pakistan over everything.”

Lt Gen Chaudhry said that Afghan Taliban forces, in coordination with militants of Fitna al Khawarij (banned TTP), opened fire and carried out raids at 53 locations along the border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Describing the Afghan Taliban regime as the “master proxy” facilitating terrorist proxies operating from Afghan territory, he said the aggression was carried out in coordination, collusion and support of terrorist organisations.

“They came with armed quadcopters, big and small weapons. We shot down their quadcopters and silenced their weapons,” he said, adding that the attacks were repulsed at all 53 locations.
